Welcome to Faversham!

We are super pleased to say our Faversham bakery cafe opened towards the end of 2022. You will find us at 1a gatefield lane ME13 8NX , which is is located just off Preston street, near the Alexander centre.

All the breads, cakes and pastries are baked fresh in Whitstable and driven over each morning by one of our bake team.

As well as all the favourites on the counter and bread rack we serve sandwiches and toasties each day in Faversham too. Our chefs prepare the fillings each morning in Whitstable and send over to be freshly assembled on site in Faversham for you.

We also have a range of deli provisions such as olives and anchovies, lots of items to go with your fresh sourdough breads to take home.

And of course speciality coffee and some gorgeous teas are available. Gracie is the Faversham manager and Grain & Hearths head of coffee so you can be confident that the coffee is BANG ON! Hooray! And if decaf is your thing then you will be happy to hear the decaf is super delicious too. We use Gentleman Baristas for our house coffee but also dabble in some awesome roasteries for our guest offering. These often include Hard Lines and Oddkin.

We are really proud of this little shop and hope you enjoy your trip there. The shop was a book shop for a long time before we took on the lease and there was a lot of work to be done to make it into a functional cafe space. Adam took a lot of time with the renovation in between his bakery shifts (yes it was full ON)!

It was a whole family affair getting the place ready, including the help of our uncle, aunt and cousin who live just down the road from the shop. Adam used the old bookshops bookshelves to make the coffee counter and has repurposed as much timber as possible to reduce waste and make the space a beautiful spot to enjoy.

The building is very old and has a wonky charm and beams galore. With the building being listed it does come with its challenges accessibility wise which we feel is important to detail. The shop has a small ledge/ step (approx 5cm) to enter and the door could not be widened to accommodate a wheelchair/ mobility aids. The shop does have a toilet which is towards the back of the shop and is up one step. The toilet space is quite small. We are aware that this will make the space less accessible for some people and do apologise for this, we have done what we can with the restrictions the building and listed status presented.

Whitstable is a more accessible space with a step free access through the courtyard entrance and widened doorways with a toilet with support bar and emergency pull chord alarm.

If you are visiting with a little one you may find it helpful to know we have two highchairs available and there is space for pushchairs to be wheeled in. It can get quite busy so at times this can be tricky to accommodate more than 1-2 pushchairs in the space that aren’t folded. We have a lovely selection of independently published magazines for you to browse and some really beautiful children’s books focussing on nature, kindness and diversity. We hope they help to make your trip easier and more relaxed! If we can help make your visit easier by helping in any way let the team know. We know how juggling a baby, sling or pram, all the paraphernalia and sitting down to feed a little one can be super tricky so happy to help by bringing over your drinks or an extra glass for example. Caring for a little one is hard work!

We are dog friendly. We just ask that you can make sure your furry friend is on a short lead so they can be kept in safe distance of the food on display.
